About Us

In 1998 two passionate ‘foodies’ met at a party and it wasn’t long before they started talking about their favourite subject and the poor availability of quality vegetarian foods. Shelagh Milligan (widow of comedian Spike) and Stephen Drew decided right then that they should do something about it. They were confident that the combination of Stephen’s experience in the food industry and Shelagh’s flair for innovative cooking was the ideal recipe for a successful food manufacturing company.

So just a year later, Millfoods started producing high-quality vegetarian frozen ready meals for the food service market. Their rapid success and customers’ requests for an expanded product range lead to the opening of their Ashford-based factory in 2004 where they now employ 40 people. The business soon expanded to include a popular range of soups, starters and desserts and a variety of traditional and continental meat and fish dishes.

The company has gone from strength to strength using naturally grown ingredients to supply an ever-growing market. Whenever practical the company supports British farmers and traditional style producers to minimise food miles. Despite current market conditions, business is booming and the factory will soon be working 24 hours a day to meet demand for Millifoods’ ready meals with their unique homemade touch.
